TOPIC: When Fire Falls

MEMORISE: “And there went out fire from the Lord and devoured them, and they died before the Lord.” – Leviticus 10:2 (KJV)

READ: Leviticus 10:1-5 (KJV)

1 And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer put fire therein put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the Lord, which he commanded them not.

2 And there went out fire from the Lord, and devoured them, and they died before the Lord.

3 Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the Lord spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.

4 And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel, Aaron’s uncle, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp.

5 So they went near and carried them in their coats out of the camp, as Moses had said.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Joshua 21-22

Open Heaven For Today 2024 MESSAGE

When you are in service, and everyone is praying that fire should fall, you must beware. When the fire of God falls, some people die, and some others rejoice. When the fire of God falls, those who do not belong to Him are consumed, while those who belong to Him are empowered.

In Daniel 3:19-30, when they threw Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego into the fire, the fire destroyed their yokes. They walked out of the fire into promotion, but those who were not on the side of the Lord that got close to that fire were consumed.

Some years ago, as I was preaching during a service, the fire of God fell. While people were getting their healings, a woman ran out of the service. From outside the hall, she beckoned on the fellow she came with to bring her bag so she could go home. Surprised, the fellow asked her why she couldn’t come in to get her bag herself, and she said there was a fire in the place and she couldn’t come in for fear of being burnt. When the fire of God comes down, while it brings healing and promotions to God’s children, it can destroy those not on the Lord’s side. So, before you join those asking for fire to fall, please cross over if you are not already on God’s side.

I should also note that sometimes, the fire of God comes down unexpectedly in the middle of a service. Even the preacher may be unaware that God is about to rain down fire. Only those on Christ’s side will be safe when the fire falls. I chose the passage in our Bible reading for today because I want to speak particularly to those who are workers in the church and who are still dipping their hands into sin. Surrender your life entirely to the Lord Jesus Christ because if you are standing by when the fire begins to fall, and you are not on the Lord’s side, the result might not be delightful.

God usually gives room for repentance, but that is until His fire falls. The day the fire falls is the day of consequences – no repentance after that. Many are nursing diseases and other terrible issues because when the fire of God fell, they were not on His side.

PRAYER POINT

Father, please forgive me for every sin I have committed against You. Please help me always be on Your side, in Jesus’ name.

HYMN 26 – THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING

1 There shall be showers of blessing:
This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Savior above.

Refrain
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need;
Mercy drops around us are falling,
But for the showers, we plead.

2 There shall be showers of blessing—
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
Sound of abundance of rain.

3 There shall be showers of blessing;
Send them upon us, O Lord!
Grant to us now a refreshing;
Come, and now honor Thy Word.

4 There shall be showers of blessing;
O that today they might fall,
Now, as to God, we’re confessing,
Now, as on Jesus, we call!

5 There shall be showers of blessing,
If we but trust and obey,
There shall be seasons refreshing,
If we let God have His way.

MEMORISE: “And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.” – Exodus 3:5 (KJV)

READ: Exodus 3:1-5 (KJV)

1 Moses kept the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, and the priest of Midian; he led the flock to the backside of the desert and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.

2 And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this incredible sight, why the bush is not burnt.

4 And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Joshua 18-20

Open Heaven For Today 2024 MESSAGE

In 1 Kings 19:19, as Elijah was passing by Elisha, he cast his mantle upon him, and from that day, Elisha’s life never remained the same. The Holy Spirit has touched anything touched by fire, and when it touches something, it changes permanently.

Exodus 3:1-5 tells us that the fire of God touched the ground of that backside of the desert, and from that moment onward, God called it holy ground. When Moses arrived, God told him to remove his shoes because the ordinary soil He had touched had become holy ground.

Exodus 4:1-20 tells us how holy the ground was because everything that touched that ground also changed permanently, such that in verse 20, the Bible says:

And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.

After the encounter with the fire of God, Moses left for Egypt, and amongst all the things he took, he took the rod of God. The ordinary rod of a shepherd had now become the rod of God because it touched the holy ground.

Some years ago, a woman fell so ill that the doctors said that there was nothing they could do to help her. Her children were advised to take her home so she could die with her family around her. The woman told her children, “Don’t take me home; take me to the Redeemed Christian Church of God headquarters.” They told her, “Mama, but there is no service today. The pastor will not be there.” She said, “I didn’t say I want to go and see the pastor; just take me there.” They took her to the church, but because she was frail, she could not walk by herself, so she asked them to help her reach one of the pillars of the building. The moment she reached the pillar and touched it, she became utterly healed and walked back to the car herself. She experienced a brush with the fire of God through her faith, and she became healed.

There is tremendous power in anything that has touched holy ground. Don’t just go for services casually; be conscious that you are going to a place of fire. When you go to your local assembly, go with expectations, and you will experience great miracles in your life.

PRAYER POINT

Father, the next time I come into Your presence, please don’t let me return home the same way I came, in Jesus’ name.

HYMN 1 – All Hail The Power Of Jesus’ Name

1 All hail the power of Jesus’ name!
Let angels prostrate fall,
Let angels prostrate fall;
Bring forth the royal diadem,
And crown Him, crown Him,
crown Him, crown Him;
And crown Him Lord of all!

2 Ye chosen seed of Israel’s race,
Ye ransomed from the fall,
Ye ransomed from the fall,
Hail Him who saves you by His grace,

3 Sinners, whose love can ne’er forget
The wormwood and the gall,
The wormwood and the gall,
Go, spread your trophies at His feet,

4 Let every kindred, every tribe,
On this terrestrial ball,
On this terrestrial ball,
To Him all majesty ascribe,

5 O that with yonder sacred throng
We at His feet may fall,
We at His feet may fall!
We’ll join the everlasting song,

Open Heaven For Today 2024 Friday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – The Anointed Must Work Hard

TOPIC: The Anointed Must Work Hard

MEMORISE: “But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.” – John 5:17 (KJV)

READ: 1 Corinthians 15:10 (KJV)

10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Joshua 14-17

Open Heaven For Today 2024 MESSAGE

Many people see the anointed and envy them; they also want to be able to lay hands on the sick and have them recover. However, the anointing to heal the sick is available to every believer. Mark 16:17-18 says that if you are a believer, some signs will follow you, including healing the sick. When you, however, study Matthew 8:14-18, you will see that the moment you have the healing gift, crowds will come. Jesus healed Peter’s mother-in-law, and then, in the evening, they brought all those who were sick and demon-possessed. The news spread so much that many people came to Him for healing.

If you want to be able to lay hands on the sick for their healing, you must be ready for hard work – you will preach, heal, and comfort the brokenhearted. If anyone is in trouble, they will call on you. You will also have to set the captives free so that demon-possessed people will be paying you constant visits, and according to Ephesians 6:12, casting out demons involves spiritual wrestling. Spiritual wrestling is not for the lazy, so you cannot afford to be lazy if you want to be anointed. The Lord Jesus had the anointing (Acts 10:38), but in Mark 6:31, He had to tell the disciples, “Let us take a break,” because He became so busy that there wasn’t enough time to eat. If you want to be anointed, you must be ready to work. I am not saying this to frighten you; I am saying it to prepare you because someone reading this devotional is going to get powerfully anointed soon, in Jesus’ name.

Many years ago, I read 1 Corinthians 12:31, which says:
But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

I realized God approves of His children to be jealous of the best spiritual gifts, so I told God, “Lord, I want to double the anointing on Elisha, Paul, Peter, and Jesus when He was on earth. Add everything together and then double it again.” God responded, “You are asking for a dangerous thing; people won’t let you rest.” I said, “I don’t mind.” How forward we can be sometimes. I now have a better understanding of His warning. If you desire to be anointed, pray the prayer point for today with all your heart.

PRAYER POINT

Father, I am ready to do Your work in any part of the world You send me to. Please empower me to do the work today.

HYMN 4 – To The Work! To work! We Are Servants Of God

1 To the work! To the work! we are servants of God,
Let us follow the path that our Master has trod;
With the might of His power, our strength to renew,
Let us do by His grace what He calls us to do.
Work for Him by His grace;
Work thru Him for His praise;
Work with Him all the days;
And work in Him in many ways.

2 To the work! To the work! let the hungry be fed;
To the fountain of life, let the thirsty be led;
In the cross and its vict’ry, our glory shall be,
While we herald the tidings, “Salvation is free!”

3 To the work! To the work! in the strength of the Lord,
By the power of His Name, with the light of His Word,
All the slaves of the darkness of Satan were set free
And His riches of grace in His glory we’ll see.
