TOPIC: What Did God Say?

MEMORISE: “I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.” – Habakkuk 2:1 (KJV)

READ: Psalm 119:101-105 (KJV)

101 I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.

102 I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught me.

103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! Yeah, more precious than honey in my mouth!

104 Through thy precepts, I get understanding; therefore, I wouldn’t say I like every false way.

105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Numbers 33-36

Open Heaven For Today 2024 MESSAGE

To live and survive on this earth, you need more than food. Jesus said in Matthew 4:4 that you need every word that proceeds from God’s mouth. This implies that you must be very particular about hearing from God regularly. Many people think that prayer is a one-way traffic; that is, they go to God and tell Him all their problems, and that is all. No! The most important part of prayer is hearing what God says concerning situations. The entrance of His word brings light (Psalm 119:130).

When I often face a difficult situation, and I cry to God for help, and he does not say anything back to me, I say, “I’m in trouble,” and I continue calling unto Him. When I finally hear from Him, I know that the problem is over. Even if what I hear is a rebuke, the fact that He is answering shows that He has heard me and that something will happen.

The Bible recorded in (1 Samuel 30:1-18) how David and his men had lost their family members and possessions to the Amalekites and how they recovered all after seeking guidance from God. It was a very dark moment for them before God spoke to them. The men had cried themselves sore and were so sad that they began to contemplate killing David. Thankfully, David acted wisely and sought the face of God on what to do, and when they worked on God’s counsel, they recovered all.

In the memory verse for today, Habakkuk said that he will stand upon his watch to see what God’s response to him will be. Beloved, what is God saying about your prayer requests before Him? What is God saying about your family, future, and career? If you are a child of God, you should note that God also wants to speak to you concerning your situation. Unfortunately, many believers fail to wait for Him to hear what He says to them.

In Jeremiah 33:3, God said, “Call on me, and I will answer.” He didn’t say, “I may answer” or “I will consider answering.” He said, “I WILL answer.” So, when you go to Him in prayers, tell Him, “Lord, I will not rest until you have answered me.”

KEY POINT

The most important part of prayer is hearing what God says concerning situations.

HYMN 7 – I Am Thine O Lord

1 I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith,
And be closer drawn to Thee.

Chorus
Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

2 Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the power of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.

3 O the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,
I commune as friend with friend!

4 There are depths of love that I yet may know
Ere Thee face to face I see;
There are heights of joy that I yet may reach
Ere, I rest in peace with Thee

Open Heaven For Today 2024 Monday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Diligently Seeking

TOPIC: Diligently Seeking

MEMORISE: “And ye shall seek me, and find me when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” – Jeremiah 29:13 (KJV)

READ: Psalm 63:1-8 (KJV)

1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

2 To see thy power and glory, as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

3 My lips shall praise thee Because thy lovingkindness is better than life.

4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift my hands in thy name.

5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:

6 When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.

7 Because thou hast been my help, I rejoice in the shadow of thy wings.

8 My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Numbers 30-32

Open Heaven For Today 2024 MESSAGE

Hebrews 11:6 says that God rewards those who diligently seek Him. You only cite someone who has done something of good report and has done it well; therefore, what the passage is telling us is that God wants people to seek Him diligently. This is why God told David clearly to seek His face, and what was David’s response?

When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek. – Psalm 27:8

David said, “God, when you ask me to seek your face, my heart says, ‘Your face will I seek.'” Today, God is asking you to spend time seeking His face. What will your response be?

You seek God through Bible study and prayers. While others do these things like every other activity, those who diligently seek God go the extra mile. They study their Bible for hours, going deeper and deeper into just one topic until they understand God’s mind. To them, prayer is not an event; it is a lifestyle. Every time you see them, they pray because (1 Thessalonians 5:17) says that we must pray without ceasing. When they set out time to pray, they don’t just put words together; they pour; ut their hearts to God, and their m, central yearning is, “Lord, I want to know You more.” They spend multiple hours just having heart-to-heart talks with God.

Beloved, seek God’s face daily until you fall asleep eve and while sleeping. Solomon said that even when He is sleeping, his heart is awake, and he can hear his beloved asking to come in unto him (Song of Solomon 5:2). David also described how he thinks about God on his bed at night and how his soul follows hard after God in Psalm 63:6-8. These are descriptions of how true love is expressed. Is this also your experience with God as your beloved?

There is great reward in diligently seeking the Lord. Beloved, spend your days seeking God and God alone. Seek Him while eating; let all your yearning be for Him. When you diligently seek Him, He will open Himself in ways the regular Christian may never see. There are things God has revealed to me in the Spirit that I cannot share publicly because people who have not sought Him diligently may never understand.

ACTION POINT

Commit to seeking God’s face diligently from now on.

HYMN 8 – I Need Thee Every Hour

1 I need Thee every hour,
Most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine
Can peace afford?

Chorus
I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
Every hour, I need Thee;
Oh, bless me now, my Savior!
I come to Thee.

2 I need Thee every hour,
Stay Thou nearby;
Temptations lose their power
When Thou art nigh.

3 I need Thee every hour,
In joy or pain;
Come quickly and abide,
Or life is vain.

4 I need Thee every hour,
Teach me Thy will;
And Thy rich promises
In me fulfill.

5 I need Thee every hour,
Most Holy One;
Oh, make me Thine indeed,
Thou blessed Son.

Open Heaven For Today 2024 Sunday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Are You Relevant?

Click HERE for the Previous Open Heaven Devotional

TOPIC: Are You Relevant?

MEMORISE: “And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:” – Acts 6:5 (KJV)

READ: John 15:1-6 (KJV)

1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

2 Every branch in me that beareth, not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3 Now ye are clean through the word I have spoken unto you.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: without me, ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abides not in me, he is cast forth as a branch and is withered; men gather them, throw them into the fire, and burn them.

Open Heaven For Today 2024 MESSAGE

There are different kinds of people in the church workforce today. Some are so relevant to the work of God that if they are absent on a service day, everyone will notice. Some other people, however, hardly do anything, even in the department where they claim to function. Worse still, some people are workforce members on paper, but physically, they are nowhere to be found. They hardly attend workers’ meetings, not to talk of actually working for God. I don’t know which of these categories you belong to, but if you are not so active that people can quickly notice your absence, you need to do better.

The first set of church workers in the Bible were the seven deacons mentioned in Acts 6:5. Phillip was one of them, and in Acts 21:8, he had become someone referred to as the evangelist. The Bible expressly referred to him as ‘the evangelist,’ which means that there might have been ‘an evangelist’ or ‘some evangelists,’ but he was ‘the evangelist.’ Furthermore, the passage referred to him as one of the seven to remind us that he was one of the seven chosen deacons. However, aside from Stephen and Phillip, we never heard of the rest.

One of my grandchildren once asked me, “Grandpa, do you know the Bible well?” I said, “Yes,” and then she asked, “Who is Prochorus?” I said, “I don’t know him”. She said, “What about Timon?” I said, “You mean Simon?” She said, “No, Timon”. I replied, “I don’t know Timon either.” Then she said, “Prochorus and Timon were ordained along with Stephen and Phillip as deacons.” I said, “Is that so? God have mercy on Prochorus. I know Stephen, I know Phillip, but this Prochorus fellow, what did he do that is worthy of note?” In the same vein when your name is mentioned in your local assembly, can people recognize the things you do that are worthy of note?

This is not to say that you must try to show everyone you are working. However, your impact must be felt in the department where you choose to work. For example, if you are in the sanitation department, everyone must know that the church is always sparkling clean if you are around. Make so much impact that denying your relevance in the house of God is impossible.

REFLECTION

How impactful have you been in your local assembly?

HYMN 4 – To The Work! To work! We Are Servants Of God

1 To the work! To the work! we are servants of God,
Let us follow the path that our Master has trod;
With the might of His power, our strength to renew,
Let us do by His grace what He calls us to do.
Work for Him by His grace;
Work thru Him for His praise;
Work with Him all the days;
And work in Him in many ways.

2 To the work! To the work! let the hungry be fed;
To the fountain of life, let the thirsty be led;
In the cross and its vict’ry, our glory shall be,
While we herald the tidings, “Salvation is free!”

3 To the work! To the work! in the strength of the Lord,
By the power of His Name, with the light of His Word,
All the slaves of the darkness of Satan were set free
And His riches of grace in His glory we’ll see.
