TOPIC: The Ruin Of Reuben (Seeds Of Destiny 25 February 2024)
SCRIPTURE: Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power: Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiled thou it: he went up to my couch. Genesis 49:3-4.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Many people are in hellfire today because they have no respect for authority.
Seeds Of Destiny For Today 2023 MESSAGE:
We have been exploring Reuben’s life. We already know that Reuben was the firstborn of Jacob. He had the potential to become great by being the supposed carrier of the Blessings of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But he missed out in life because of his bankruptcy of character – he defiled his father’s bed.
Now, one character in Reuben that made him defile his father’s bed was his lack of self-control.
Reuben lacked self-control. He could not control himself. That was why his father said he was as unstable as water.
Reuben could not control his passion and desires. You may see Reuben be very calm and relaxed at one time, but at another time, he could be as wild as the wind. He was as unstable as water.

Anyone who cannot control his desires cannot control his destiny. When you have no control over your passion, you have no control over your portion.
The second manifestation of Reuben’s lousy character is his lack of respect for authority.
If he respected his father’s authority, he would not have slept with his father’s wife.
When you see anyone today who has no respect for man’s authority and that of God, that person has no future with God. Many people are in prison today because they have no respect for authority. Many people are in hellfire today because they have no respect for authority.
That will not be your portion in Jesus’ Name.
REMEMBER THIS: Many people are in hellfire today because they have no respect for authority.
ASSIGNMENTS:
- Work on your character to avoid the tragedy of character failure.
- Ask God for the grace for self-control and value for authority.
PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace to exercise self-control and value the authority over my life. Help me to manifest Your character to my world, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
